New Delhi: Two women tragically lost their lives after being shot by unidentified assailants in Delhi’s RK Puram police station area during the early morning hours of Sunday, according to local authorities. The victims, identified as Pinky (30) and Jyoti (29), were rushed to SJ Hospital for immediate medical attention but, devastatingly, succumbed to their injuries.
Deputy Commissioner of Police South West Delhi, Manoj C, reported that the police received a distressing call at 4:40 am from RK Puram police station. The caller informed the police that their sisters had been shot by unknown individuals in Ambedkar Basti. A police team promptly arrived at the scene and discovered Pinky and Jyoti with gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to save them, their injuries proved fatal.
Initial investigations suggest that the shooters were targeting the victims’ brother, likely due to a dispute over a financial matter. However, the exact motive behind the shooting will be determined after an extensive investigation, as stated by a police official. A case has been registered under the relevant sections, and the police are diligently working to apprehend the accused individuals.
To maintain law and order and prevent any further untoward incidents, additional police forces have been deployed in the area. These forces are conducting patrols and ensuring the safety of the residents. A dedicated team of senior police officials has been assigned to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to justice.
Reactions Over The Killing Of Two Women
The recent incident has raised concerns about the overall state of law and order in Delhi, leading Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to question the efficacy of the city’s security measures. Kejriwal expressed his condolences to the families affected, taking to Twitter to say, “We extend our sympathies to the families of both women.
May the soul of two women rest in peace. The people of Delhi are increasingly feeling insecure. Those responsible for maintaining law and order in Delhi seem more focused on seizing control of the entire Delhi government, rather than addressing the law and order issues. If the AAP government, instead of the LG, were in charge of Delhi’s law and order today, Delhi would have been the safest city.”
In response to Kejriwal’s comments, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Member of Parliament, Manoj Tiwari, refrained from engaging in political discourse on the issue. Tiwari expressed disappointment that some politicians focus on political point-scoring rather than fulfilling their primary responsibilities. He highlighted the urgency of addressing the rising number of fire incidents in Delhi and emphasized the need to combat such challenges effectively.
Tiwari further advised Chief Minister Kejriwal to prioritize addressing the growing anger-related issues in Delhi, as public safety and security should be of paramount concern. Ranveer Singh Bidhuri, another BJP leader and Member of the Legislative Assembly representing Delhi’s Badarpur constituency, also conveyed his condolences to the victim’s family.
The unfortunate incident underscores the importance of maintaining law and order in the capital city. The authorities must conduct a comprehensive investigation to uncover the full details surrounding the shooting. The safety and security of the citizens should remain the highest priority, and effective measures must be taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
The loss of Pinky and Jyoti’s lives has not only shattered their families but also highlighted the need for stricter gun control measures and improved safety protocols. The incident serves as a wake-up call for the authorities to strengthen law enforcement efforts and ensure the effective implementation of preventive measures.
Additionally, there is a pressing need to address the underlying socio-economic issues that often contribute to such disputes, providing support and counseling services to prevent conflicts from escalating into acts of violence. Society as a whole must work together to create a safer environment for all its members.
