Mumbai has marked its milestone in digital development by launching a new ‘Tap-in Tap-out’ featured bus.
India is a country with almost every field succeeding in its way. Likewise, in the digital world, India has its digital bus launched in the financial capital of our country. The digital bus was inaugurated by Aaditya Thackeray, the State Environment Minister of Maharashtra. The first “Tap-in, Tap-out” bus ran from the Gateway of India to Churchgate.
BEST’s first-ever Digital Bus
Aaditya Thackeray stated,
“Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) is India’s first bus service to go completely digital. We will be implementing this on all 10 buses on this route in a few days and later expand it on all 438 routes across the city.”
The General Manager of BEST, Lokesh Chandra, said,
“This is the first-ever 100 percent digital bus service in the country, aiming to increase the digitalization of the bus ticketing system. It provides ease and convenience for travelers as they can tap in using their smart cards or via the Chalo app installed on their smartphones.”
The public can access the digital buses easily and without any difficulties, just by flashing their smart card or mobile in front of the digital machine. The passenger will be able to board the bus if the light turns green. The bus fare will be deducted from the passenger when the passenger taps out the smart card or the mobile phone when he/she is departing. The people of Mumbai are too excited to try out the new features and digital bus launched by BEST.
The tap in using a smart card or the “Chalo” app that can be downloaded to a smartphone will make this system convenient and simple for travellers. When a passenger uses the app to tap out after finishing their voyage, they will receive a receipt on their phone, and if they use a smart card, they can also pick up their ticket.
