Synopsis: Flood has submerged around 1300 villages of 18 districts in Uttar Pradesh, according to the data shared by the Relief Commissioner’s office in Lucknow. Balrampur has been identified worst-hit district, followed by Siddhartnagar.
According to the data the Relief Commissioner’s office shared, Many parts of Uttar Pradesh are in the grip of flood, and flood situations in Uttar Pradesh’s 1370 villages of 18 districts remain horrid, as the water surge in several rivers, including Saryu and Rapti continued for the sixth consecutive day.
The Worst-hit district of Uttar Pradesh is Balrampur with 287 flooded villages followed by Siddharthnagar with 129 flood-hit villages. Other districts with the most deluge villages included:
- 120 villages of Gorakhpur
- 114 villages of Shravasti
- 110 villages of Gonda
- 102 villages of Bahraich
- 86 villages of Lakhimpur Kheri
- 82 villages of Barabanki
- 68 villages of Bulandshahar
- 63 villages of Maharajganj
- 60 villages of Azamgarh
- 57 villages of Sitapur
- 32 villages of Basti
- 19 villages of Sant Kabir Nagar
- 14 villages of Khusinagar
- 13 villages of Mau
- 12 villages of Ayodhya
- 2 villages of Ambedkar Nagar
On Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath distributed relief material in flood-hit areas and conducted an aerial survey in flood-affected areas in the Sant Kabir Nagar district.
Officials said the Rapti river is flowing 130 cm above the danger level. Flood water has submerged many houses in the villages. Many people’s lives have been affected by the flood. Because of the boom in the Saryu river, many villages were submerged in water.
The situation is so grim in those flood-hit areas that people are seen using boats inside the village. BJP MLA Dinesh Lal Yadav visited flood-affected areas.
For the first time since 1998, Ghagra river’s water level in Azamgarh is 2cm above than danger mark. There has been seen heavy destruction due to the flood from Barabanki to Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh. The Ganga river is also flowing above the danger mark.
In many areas of Uttar Pradesh people are waiting for some help from the government and many people are forced to flee from their villages.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath deployed rescue teams (National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and Provincial Armed Constabulary) in Flood-affected areas.
