Apple Daily after Jimmy Lai:
Jimmy Lai, the founder of Apple Daily newspaper, also known as one of the most credible voices of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, is already in jail. The police have registered a case against him for spreading hatred against the administration, judiciary, publication of seditious material, and inciting the public against the government. His property has also been seized. That’s why Apple Daily had to shut down a few weeks ago.Â
The last edition of Apple Daily was published only last month. In the same edition, the newspaper reported that they had been forced to stop publishing the newspaper by pressurizing them. The last newspaper’s edition contained a photograph of an employee waving at the fans, titled “Hong Kongers bid a painful farewell in the rain: ‘We support Apple Daily.”
