The 4-day Sherpa meetings commenced in the city of lakes, Udaipur, Rajasthan.
The main topic of discussion in the meeting is supposed to be tech transformation and green development. This meeting is the first one, under India’s G20 presidency, and it began on Sunday.
The G20 meet is expected to bring New Delhi the opportunities to put the agenda of developing countries, prior to the leader’s summit which is scheduled to take place in September, next year.
Highlights of the G-20 meeting
The Sherpas, personal emissaries of the G-20 leaders, are expected to look over the negotiations, to arrive at a consensus on key issues facing the world.
The various working groups, known as the Sherpa Tracks, are 13 in number, and that includes the one working for the Disaster Risk Resilience and Reduction, which was introduced by India for its presidency.
The working group on Disaster Risk Resilience and Reduction is of much importance, as G20 countries have a high level of exposure to disaster risk.
The working group is expected to encourage joint work by the G20.
India will introduce broad priorities of all Working Groups and take into consideration the views of G20 countries, guests, and international organizations at the G20 meeting, as stated by an official.

India’s Sherpa Mr. Amitabh Kant gave the introduction for the summit. He also brought to the notice several issues. Some of them include charting the path for inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth, accelerating the path of creating improved livelihood for people, better healthcare, and quality of life, as the world slowly recovers from the pandemic, Covid 19.
While addressing a side event, on Sustainable Development Goals, at the first G20 meet, Mr. Amitabh Kant stated how the world altogether is passing through a massive geopolitical crisis.
He also talked about how we have seen the breakdown of global supply chains. Countries suffering from rising debt and the huge crisis of climate action and climate finance in the overall economy of the world, he added.

Guest countries
Leaders from various countries like Egypt, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Mauritius, Nigeria, Singapore, Oman, Spain, and the UAE as members of international organizations are present in the city of Udaipur, for the G20 meet.
