Chennai: A man killed his grandma, at Korrukupet on Tuesday, after she feed him his favourite lunch fish curry and rice, angered by her insistence demand that he return 1 lakh that his mom had borrowed. He then bolted the entryways of the house and watched the television while she bleed to death.
Police identity the lady as Visalakshi, 70, who resided alone at a house on Karumariamman Nagar Second Road in Korukkupet. The assailant was her daughter Amudha ‘s child Sathish, 28. After lunch Visalakshi and Sathish had a dispute about the money and Satish cut her with an blade and hit her with a hammer.
When a neighbour came to ask about the noise Sathish blamed it on the television and said his grandma had gone out. He then, at that point, locked the house and sat watching the television, while his grandma lay injured. After which he called up his mom and said Visalakshi had been injured in a fall. His mom rushed to Korrukupet and took Visalakshi to the Stanley government clinic where she was declared dead.
When police went to Visalakshi’s home, Sathish was still sitting in front of the television in a drunken stupor. The RK Nagar police registered a case and arrested Sathish. They seized the blade and hammer which are used to kill Visalakshi. Sathish was remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday.
Police said Visalakshi had been pressuring Sathish and Amudha to return the 1 lakh, which she had given them to build new house four years ago. Amudha had borrowed cash from others too to construct a house at Red hills. As she couldn’t reimburse the cash, Amudha had to sell her new house and settle the advances. She gave 1 lakh to her mom and vowed to return the leftover 1 lakh at the earliest.
However , she delayed the installment and Visalakshi had called and abused her daughter and grandson a several times, police said.
