Tommy Sugiarto of Indonesia was routed by the star Indian shuttler H.S Prannoy to go to the Taipei Open quarterfinals. H.S. Prannoy defeated his opponent by himself in just 36 minutes. The shuttler won the match in fast succession, and Taiwan put up a stunning performance of badminton. Tommy from H.S. Prannoy had previously suffered losses in the 2019 New Zealand Open and the 2018 All England Open.

In the BWF ranking, H.S. Prannoy is presently ranked No. 9. His highest rating of his career was 7 in May 2024. Prannoy gained notoriety after taking home the silver medal in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics. He earned another silver at the Bahrain International Challenge in 2011. But Prannoy’s injury issues persisted throughout his early professional years.
Tata Open Prannoy made it all the way to the 2013 championship match before falling to Sourabh Verma. Prannoy was a member of the Indian Thomas Cup team in 2022. His performance continued against Rasmus Gemke of Denmark, who beat the youngster in the key match to advance India to the finals, which India ultimately won. He defeated Leong Jun Hao in the most crucial match of the Thomas Cup, giving the Indian Team a position in the semi-finals.
For Prannoy, the BWF World Tour was also fantastic. He recovered a position in the Top 15 of the BWF World Rankings after four years of ups and downs in his badminton career.
