IMD’s latest alert showed several parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi are expected to receive heavy rain and thunderstorms.
IMD said that today, July 12, there will be a lot of rain and thunderstorms with lightning. Chances are high in Delhi, UP, and a lot of other cities. Some parts of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Maharashtra are likely to get very heavy to very heavy rain. It will continue for the next four to five days.
Heavy rain and gusty winds with a speed of 50 kmph had already accompanied Delhi, Noida, and Gurgaon on Monday evening. It will bring much needed relief and relaxation to the residents from the boiling heat.
In Delhi, strong winds caused power outages at several places in the city and uprooted trees, leading to traffic snarls. The weather will cause a delay in flight timings for a few days. Flight passengers should arrive early to avoid complications. People have told them to keep an eye on the status of their flight. Delhi has recorded a minimum temperature of 27.8 °C this season, which is a notch above the season’s average. Relative humidity on Monday at 8.30am was 63%.
In Uttar Pradesh, rain is likely in Sahaswan, Chandpur, Badayun, and Agra.
Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, Nadbai, Deeg, Bayana, Mahwa, Mehndipur, and Viratnagar are also likely to witness thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity.
Earlier in the day, the department had predicted thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain over Ghata, Bandhawari, Haryana and adjoining areas during the next 2 hours.
