Amidist Hijab controversy case, the police has prohibitted all kinds of gathering, celebrations or protests are not permitted in Bengaluru for one week.
Karnataka: A three judge bench of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi, Justice Krishna Dixit and Justice JM Khazi will give its verdict on the Hijab controversy today at 10.30 am.
In preparation to the sensitive verdict, Bengaluru police has suspended all kinds of gathering from celebratory to protesting in public places from 15 March to 21 March.
Prohibitory measures are in action in various other parts of the states also. In Vijayapura, within 200 metres of schools and colleges restrictions are imposed. Security measures are also notched up in the claimed sensitive regions.
In Ramanagara district, Section 144 is imposed and prohibitory measures will continue till 18 March. Schools and colleges have announced holidays across various districts. In Dakshina Kannada, even exams are postponed.
The Hijab case is based on a petition filed by girls belonging to Udupi who pleaded to the court that they should be allowed to wear their hijabs or headscarves in classes along with the school uniforms as it was a part of their faith.
In its interim order, the Karnataka High Court had asked the state government to reopen the schools and colleges which were affected by agitations and protests. The bench of judges also prohibited the students from wearing both Hijab or saffron scarves within the school premises till the final verdict is given.
