In this era everyone is busy on their own. Everyone worries at least once about school grades, financial matters, relationship troubles with friends or family members. However, if you are getting lost in your thoughts often, it may signify you have overthinking.
It refers to deep thinking or negative thoughts that used to come to mind and feel anxious about it. Overthinking is likely to be harmful and does not meet its intended goals. It can be energy draining and can interfere with the lives of people.
Causes of Overthinking
Stress : Stress is the body’s reaction to harmful situations whether they’re real or perceived. During the stress your body reacts as an abnormal.
Idleness : A person who is physically and mentally idle or inactive can be termed as idleness.
Low self esteem :Low self-esteem is characterized by a lack of confidence and feeling badly about oneself. People with low self-esteem often feel unlovable, awkward, or incompetent.
Fear of failure : The fear of failure, which is sometimes referred to as atychiphobia is an irrational and persistent fear of failing. Sometimes this fear emerges in response to overthinking.
How to Overcome from Overthinking ??
Distract yourself : Shut down overthinking by involving yourself in an activity you enjoy.
This looks different for everyone, but ideas include:
- Listen to music.
- Read books.
- Engage with your family members.
- Interact with your friends.
- Solve puzzles.
- Taking up a new hobby such as cooking, painting, singing, dancing etc.
Exercise : Doing exercise is the best medicine for overthinking.
- Take deep breath
- Meditation
Do something nice for someone else : Trying to ease the load for someone else can help you put things in perspective. Think of ways you can be of service to someone going through a difficult time.
Share your problem with friends / family members :
Sharing your complication with your friend or with family members is the suitable advice in the situation of overthinking. Because it helps us to find the solution and overthinking is all about the problem and every problem has its own solution.
