Afghan capital Kabul, witnesses a huge explosion in one of its mosques. Several killed & dozens wounded in the explosion, which took place during the evening prayers, yesterday.

Kabul (Afghanistan) 17, August– A huge explosion took place in a mosque situated in the capital Kabul. At Least three people have been killed & dozens others have been wounded & hospitalised in the explosion, according to the police & hospital.
An Italian non government organisation (NGO), which has a hospital in the capital, told media that it is treating around 27 patients, out of which three have already died. There are five children among the wounded. “We have recorded three fatalities,” Emergency told the AFP news agency via email.
Death Toll
The numbers are coming out in conflicts with each other, one of the security officials told Al Jazeera that there had been 20 deaths counted so far & 40 are found wounded.
The Associated Press news agency reported the death toll to be 10. A Taliban government spokesperson came to speak on the explosions.
He said that there have been deaths & several are found wounded but he didn’t specify any numbers.
“The murderers of civilians and perpetrators … will soon be punished for their crimes,” the spokesperson wrote on twitter.
Even the police did not have any numbers.
“A blast happened inside a mosque … the blast has casualties, but the numbers are not clear yet,” Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran told Reuters.
What actually happened?
Witnesses told news agencies that the powerful explosion happened in the Siddiqui Mosque in the northern Kabul neighbourhood of Khair Khanna. The blast was so powerful that it shattered the glasses & window panes of the neighbouring buildings.
A neighbouring resident told the AP that the imam of the mosque named Mullah Amir Mohammad Kabuli, was also killed in the blast. Intelligence teams have reached the site of the explosion & investigation is going on.
Afghanistan has been facing a great number of attacks now. Many of which have been claimed by ISIL affiliate known as the Islamic State in Khorasan Province, ISKP (ISIS-K), in recent months.
In Spite of Taliban’s claims that it has brought peace to Afghanistan the attacks does not seem to stop at any point now.
