The counter of manager Mahadaram Anil Kumar was raided by the Banjara Hills police on Monday, and five parcels were confiscated.Â
Customers in the Radisson Blu’s Pudding and Mink pub had downed as many as 37 cocaine packets before the Task Force officers arrived on Sunday. After being kept for many hours and finally released late at night were 148 clients, 38 of them were women. Others had been related to high-ranking individuals. Only two people were taken into custody.Â
On Monday, the Banjara Hills police said that they had confiscated five parcels from the counter of manager Mahadaram Anil Kumar. Because of the “high-profile nature” of the case and the fact just two people, Anil Kumar and Abhishek Vuppala had blood samples taken, the 148 customers were freed without having their samples taken. Eventually, they were taken into police custody and are currently being held without bond.Â
Customers were taken to the Banjara Hills gate by police officers and women police in the early hours of Sunday morning. When the cops arrived, the tavern was already secured. Arjun Veeramachineni (absconding) was one of the pub’s proprietors, according to a documented agreement found during a search of the premises.Â
The five recovered sachets of cocaine were certified to be pure by forensic tests.Â
Excise superintendent Naveen Kumar pointed out that “there is nothing in the excise rule book that is designated a 24/7 pub.” As a result of Abhishek Vuppala’s efforts, a special bar license was obtained under category 2B, which is reserved for star hotels and allows 24-hour operation. He said that they were intended for international tourists.Â
According to our rulebook, “pub” is not an option. The 2B license is a standard license given to hotels with stars. As an assistant excise superintendent, Kumar is now the superintendent of excise in Yadadiri, and he added that wine stores are given the same 2B license as other establishments.Â
The commercial tax department, according to him, is responsible for issuing bar licenses to star hotels. “We’re just a place where people can buy booze. A 2B liquor license can be obtained by applying for one. There are no pubs in a dancing hall, only dancing bars, he replied.Â
Every one of the West Zone’s 40 bars is under the continual scrutiny of our personnel. When it comes to dealing narcotics, “we’re going to go after bar owners, patrons, everyone engaged in the supply or demand chain,” said Joel Davis, deputy commissioner of police.Â
In the beginning, we thought they contained cocaine.” This was validated by forensic examinations. After that, we began interrogating the suspects,” he remarked. “Arjun Veeramachineni, the primary suspect, has been targeted by special forces. We can’t tell where the cocaine came from until we find him “Then, he added.Â
When interrogated by a senior officer, Mahadaram Anil Kumar, and Abhishek Vuppala, the two men detained, did not reveal where the cocaine came from or how it was found on their manager’s counter.Â
A general power of attorney (GPA) was listed as having the legal authority to assign employees to maintain the pub, as indicated in the contract. In the GPA, Arjun Veeramachineni held primacy over both absconding Abhishek Vuppala and Abhishek himself. The tavern had been sold to him by Tejeshwini a few years prior, according to police sources.Â
