Portuguese great Cristiano Ronaldo struck a two-and-a-half-year deal with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr on December 31, one day before new year’s. According to reports, his net worth will be around more than $200 million dollars.
Ronaldo signing AL Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to the Saudi club, Al Nassr, has surprised the footballing world. He had been contemplating this move ever since his contract was terminated by Manchester United.
However, United coach, Erik Ten Hag refused to comment on Ronaldo’s move, telling reporters that he doesn’t talk about the past and urging them (reporters) to talk about the future. With this move, Ronaldo is now the highest-paid footballer in history, surpassing the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi.
The Portuguese striker went weeks without a club after his explosive interview with Piers Morgan got his United contract terminated.
Ten Hag’s team moved up to fourth place in the Premier League points table following a 1-0 win against Wolves at the Molineux Stadium on Saturday courtesy of a last-minute strike by Marcus Rashford.
Commenting on the game against Wolves and the move up to the fourth place, United’s boss said that they (Manchester United) made a good step and that it was the first time the Reds were in the top four. The Dutch coach added that it (the win) meant nothing because it is a long way to go.
“We have to live from game to game, get in the position to win something”, Ten Hag said.
Cristiano Ronaldo re-joined the Old Trafford club from Juventus two years back. However, he struggled to find his rhythm this time as the 37-year-old managed only 19 goals in 40 matches.
After the former Real Madrid man’s controversial interview with Piers Morgan, where the former said that he was betrayed by Manchester United, the club’s boss now was keen to get rid of the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner and is hell-bent to focus on the future rather than on the past.
