The latest men’s ICC T20 rankings were released on Wednesday, Aug 10. Pakistani batsman Babur Azam leads the list with 818 points. Suryakumar Yadav retains the second position.
Suryakumar Yadav is the highest-ranked Indian batsman with 805 points in batting. In a series against West Indies, Yadav managed to score 135 runs in four matches at an average of 33.75 and with a strike rate of 168.25. However, he missed his chance to become World No. 1 by resting in the final match of the series.
Babur Azam is now leading by 13 points. The first match between India vs Pakistan in Asia Cup, 2022 will decide who manages to hold the No. 1 position. Indian players like Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Ravi Bishnoi also moved to higher rankings. Shreyas Iyer jumped six places to grab 19th position.
Iyer has 578 points after hitting a massive 40-ball 64 century in the last T20 after a downtrum performance in the first four matches of the just finished series against West Indies.
Rishabh Pant gained seven places to reach 59th position. The left-hander was the second leading run-scorer with 115 runs.
Among bowlers, spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav also saw their graphs rising.Â
21-year-old Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi leaped 50 places to reach the 44th position. He took six wickets in two matches in the recent T20 series.
Kuldeep Yadav who took three wickets in the last game bounced 58 positions to 87th.
In the middle of these, senior pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar fell one place to 9th despite having a successful outing in the West Indies.
South Africa’s recent win over Ireland also saw a bulk of players rising in the latest rankings. The team’s in-form opener Reeza Hendricks moves up to the 13th position with knocks of 74 and 42 in the recent series.
On the bowler rankings, spinner Keshav Maharaj moves up 10 spots to 18th. Dwaine Pretorius also jumps seven places to 26th on the list for all-rounders. Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood continued to be world’s no. 1 bowler.Â
Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi also maintained his top ranking as the best all-rounder.
