Following Australia’s 3-0 whitewash win over New Zealand on Sunday, the ICC World Cup Super League standings see them as the big mover.
Australia sit 2nd in the standing with 120 points, behind England on the top spot with 125 points, who have won 12 out of 18 matches in the league so far. In 3rd and 4th are Bangladesh and Pakistan, also at 120 points but behind Australia on Net Run Rate. New Zealand now sits in 5th with 110 points, closely followed by the hosts, India at 109 points. The rest of the order comprises Afghanistan, West Indies, Ireland, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Zimbabwe and in the last place, Netherlands.
Australia sees captain Aaron Finch bid farewell to the ODI squad, having played his last match in the third ODI against New Zealand. He announced his retirement from One day Internationals on Saturday. A 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand is seen as the perfect ending for his tenure as Team Captain.
The ICC World Cup Super League standings will be finalized in May 2024, with the top 8 teams getting a direct entry in the 2024 ODI World cup. Australia may win it.
