Highlights :
- AAP ready to stand against BJP
- Voters want health and education from AAP: Sanjay Singh
On Monday, Sanjay Singh, Rajya Sabha member from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), said that the party’s primary fight is with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Even his vote bank takes in people who seek better healthcare, education, and employment.
On February 10 Uttar Pradesh assembly election is going to happen. The AAP contest the assembly election on all five seats in the Ghaziabad district, which goes to the polls.
While Singh’s campaigning for his party’s candidate,
“We openly say that we do not have a vote bank as such”
In addition to this, he also said that the
“Our vote bank includes people who want better education, healthcare, better electricity, and employment opportunities.”
He also said that those who created the concept of vote banks have no votes in their pockets as the voter can make their decision.
In Ghaziabad, the Aam Admi Party contest the assembly election on all five seats. It goes to the first phase polls of the seven-phase Uttar Pradesh assembly election, which will happen on February 10.
The party has put up these candidates from Sahibabad Chhavi Yadav. From Loni, we have Sachin Sharma, from Muradnagar Mahesh Tyagi, from Ghaziabad itself Nimit Yadav, and Modinagar Harinder Sharma.
Sanjay Singh’s Statement:
As per Singh’s opinion, the BJP promised action against corruption and goondas last time. But Singh said they do not have any plan for this election in 2022.
Sanjay Singh said that
“(UP chief minister Yogi) Adityanath’s government has no plan.”
Further, he also said that
“If they fight elections in Goa, West Bengal, Punjab, or Bihar, they use the name of Pakistan. Even they have done same in the UP election also… they are doing religious politics as BJP started hitting on Hindus against Muslims”.
Sanjay Singh also wished to ask them about the bodies floating in the river during the COVID-19 crises, including the farmers’ protest, fake encounters, and even the Hathras case also.
In the previous elections, the AAP has contested elections in the district but always comes up teeny- weeny. 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the party examined their candidate, Shazia Ilmi (then with AAP), and faced a defeat.
In the mayoral election of 2017, the party played for their candidate Pragati Tyagi, but she also met the taste of loss as a harsh truth. Even in the Lok Sabha election 2019, the AAP offered to support Late Suresh Bansal Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate.
He contested as a candidate for the SP-Bahujan Samaj Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) alliance, but he lost the election again.
Asking about previous years’ party performance, Singh said,
“We are in a direct fight with the BJP. Indeed, our performance in previous elections has not been up to the mark. Still, we got a good response in the local Nagar Palika and Zila panchayat elections, even our performance was much better than the Congress”.
Aam Adami Party’s Poll Promises:
As per Singh’s statement, they are building their base, and even they are playing for the educated candidates who have a clean image in their areas. However, the Aam Adami Party has bowed out many poll promises.
It consists of
- 300 units of free electricity, plus
- waiver of all loans to farmers and payment for their crops within 24 hours;
- Ramble in sugarcane price every year;
- an MSP (minimum support price) law for farmers,
- in addition to all these gram clinics in villages as well as mohalla clinics in cities.
Promises to women for free bus rides across the state, and even every woman will get payment of ₹1,000 per month. However, the BJP office-bearers stood for themselves and said that the AAP has no relevance in the Uttar Pradesh elections.
Political observers feel that the AAP needs to strengthen its base further in UP before taking on the BJP.
