In Mumbai, an individual allegedly dismembered their partner’s body.
Manoj Sane (56), who is accused of strangling his 34-year-old live-in partner Saraswati Vaidya, carried out a disturbing series of actions after the incident. On the same day, he bought a chainsaw worth Rs 4,000 and proceeded to dismember the body. Shockingly, he then pressure-cooked and roasted the body parts on the gas stove. The Mumbai police have managed to recover the victim’s legs and also collected two bags containing the cooked body parts.
Mumbai Police seized electric chainsaw, Tile cutter machine
The police have seized a blood-stained electric chainsaw, purchased from a hardware store in Bhayander (East), along with the receipt. Additionally, they have recovered a tile cutter machine worth Rs 1,000, also bought by the suspect. However, the Naya Nagar police are yet to determine which weapon was used in the murder.
Inspired by Shraddha Walkar Case
Sane, who recently lost his job at a ration shop due to license cancellation, has confessed to investigators that Vaidya, an orphan who was not employed, died from consuming poison.
Sane claimed that he panicked and attempted to dispose of the body by dismembering it.DCP Jayant Bajbale stated that Sane mentioned taking inspiration from the Shraddha Walkar case, but further investigation is required to establish the motive behind the crime.
In contrast to food blogger Aaftab Poonawala, who had allegedly stored the body parts of his live-in partner, Shraddha Walkar, in a refrigerator, Sane took a different approach. Sane, the accused in the current case, bought five bottles of Nilgiri (eucalyptus) oil to slow down the decomposition process of the body. While Sane slept in one of the two bedrooms, the dismembered body parts were kept in the kitchen and the other bedroom.
Discovered body parts in the apartment
During the investigation, authorities discovered two plastic buckets, a plastic tub, and a brass pan containing boiled and roasted body parts in the apartment. Police revealed that the dismemberment took place in the shared bathroom, while the pressure cooking and roasting occurred in the kitchen. They also noted that the legs were the last remaining body parts, awaiting chopping and cooking. Subsequently, three bags containing finely cut body pieces were gathered and sent to J J Hospital for examination.
The flat, owned by Sonam Builders, was rented out for the first time. The rental agreement was signed by Sane, with no mention of Vaidya.
The neighbors assumed they were a married couple.
Following the discovery of the murder, residents expressed their concerns to the police, speculating that Sane might have been disposing of the cooked body parts by feeding them to stray dogs in the area. They alleged that he could have carried the body parts in his backpack whenever he went outside. These suspicions raised by the residents shed light on a possible method of disposing of the remains.
