Arch-rivals India and Pakistan both qualified to the tournament’s semifinals, securing fixtures against England and New Zealand, respectively.
With a dominant 71-run victory over Zimbabwe in their last Super 12 match, Team India clinched first spot in the Group 2 of the T20 World Cup. Now, the team will play against England for a spot in the championship game. The team, however, had already qualified after Netherlands’ dramatic victory against South Africa. In India’s encounter against Zimbabwe in Melbourne, Suryakumar Yadav stole the show with six fours and four sixes on his way to an unbeaten 61 off on only 25 deliveries.
What paved the way for India and Pakistan’s Qualification to the Semis?
Following their 13-run loss against the Netherlands at the Adelaide Oval, the Bavuma-led South African team suffered an early departure from the T20 World Cup. The T20 World Cup’s final position was secured by Pakistan and the courtesy goes to the Netherlands’ spectacular victory against South Africa. The Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh team was defeated by the Babar Azam-led team to go to the T20 World Cup semifinals. In the T20 World Cup’s virtual quarterfinals at Adelaide Oval, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by five wickets, with the help of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s spectacular performance and emerging as the ‘Player of the Match’.
Pakistan has joined their long time adversary India in the T20 World Cup semifinals, after an excellent win over Bangladesh at the Oval. Former world champions England and Kane Williamson’s New Zealand earlier moved from Group 1 to the T20 World Cup semifinals.
Star of the Match: India Versus Zimbabwe
With their victory over Zimbabwe on Sunday, Team India under Rohit finished their Super 12 campaign and clinched first place in Group 2. Suryakumar Yadav shone in Melbourne, as India won by 71 runs, thanks to his superb unbroken 61 off only 25 deliveries.

India defeated the Zimbabwe team easily to go to the T20 World Cup 2022 semifinal match against England, captained by Jos Buttler. The victory also guaranteed that Pakistan will play Kane Williamson’s New Zealand in the T20 World Cup’s opening semifinal. On Sunday, the ICC World T20 2022 championship game will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), November 10, 2022, between England and the Group 2 table toppers, India.
Pakistan will be playing against the Group 1 table toppers, New Zealand, on November 9, 2022 at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the Semi-final 1.
The Final of the T20 World Cup will be played on November 13, 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), between the winners of New Zealand Versus Pakistan and India Versus England.
