India recorded no addition to the medal tally on Monday.
In the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol team, the only event of the day, the Indian trio of Vijay Kumar, Vijayveer Sidhu and Anish hit 870 in the qualification stage and finished fourth to get in the final 8. However, in the second round, they could only shoot 556, ending in the seventh position
The Indian contingent has one more event on Tuesday. So far India sits comfortably in the second position with 12 gold, nine silver and 13 bronze medals, only behind China.
India grabs silver medal in women’s 25m pistol; bronze in men’s rifle 3-position
on Sunday, Indian women won a silver medal as China beat them with a score of 16-0 for the gold medal match of the 25-metre sports pistol women’s team event. China was too strong for the Indian trio in the World Championship in Cairo, Egypt.
In round 1, Manu Bhaker, Abhidnya Patil and Rhythm Sangwan had done well enough to remain just one point away from China.
However, Liu Rui, Chen Yan and Xiao Jairuixuan showed their A game without conceding even 1 game to India, consistently hitting high scores.
In the rifle 3-position men’s team, India also won a bronze medal beating USA 17-15. Swapnil Kusalel, Niraj Kumar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar beat the American trio. Interestingly, the US had nearly missed the chance to reach finals losing to Norway.
In the 25-meter rapid-fire pistol event, Vijayveer Sidhu shot 583 and missed a one-point qualification for the ranking round. Olympic silver medallist Vijay Kumar scored 581 and Anish Bhanwala 575 and was placed 13th and 28th respectively.

Olympian Anjum Moudgil finished 6th in 50m 3p: In the women’s 50-metre rifle 3-position event, Olympian Anjum Moudgil scored 587 but ended up as sixth.
Chinese Miao Wanru beat Jenny Stene of Norway by 17-13 for the gold. Both had tied in qualification with 592. However, the Norwegian shot 1.1 points better in the II stage.
Junior men’s air pistol: Sagar Dangi dominated the qualification with 588, he was unable to continue his great run in the final as Gao Jinkang, China triumphed with a score of 16-12 in the gold match.
Varun Tomar won the bronze. Samrat Rana had low scores of inner-10s and was thus placed ninth.
In the junior mixed team event in air rifle, Sri Karthik Sabari Raj and Nancy beat the duo of Amanda Karlsson and Victor Lindgren from Sweden by 16-8 to grab the bronze.
