It was a neck-to-neck battle between India and England in the recent ICC U-19 World Cup 2022. However, India won the title for the fifth time as it beat England by four wickets.
It showed India’s top-notch performance along with a well-structured cricket team in the world arena as they continue to take up any challenges that fall on their way.
Raj Angad Bawa from Chandigarh was the highlight of the entire show as he helped the country shoot England out for 189 before hitting a valuable 35 down the order to help India chase down the target of 190 with 2.2 overs to spare.
Along with Bawa, Ravi Kumar also helped win the match with his bowling performance. The wicketkeeper, too, contributed to winning the title with a hard-hitting six. Bawa was also named Player of the Match for his wholesome performance.
On the other hand, South Africa’s Dewald Brevis was conferred with Player of the Tournament for his five hundred and six runs. And on the lists of Mohammad Kaif, Virat Kohli, Unmukt Chand, and Prithvi Shaw, Dhull joined to become India captains to win the competition.
Highlights of the Match
Yash Dhull, the Indian Captain, said that it was a proud moment for India to achieve the title. But on the other side, the captain of England confessed that they would have liked to bat first. He also appreciated James Rew for his outstanding batting performance.
The head coach of India shared his opinion saying that he was delighted with the results. He added further, “We were looking to bat as well. There was a little bit of moisture. Dhull led them very well. He has an excellent head on his shoulders.
I think it’s a fabulous competition, getting this stage to perform at this young age, for all teams. It’s a great opportunity to showcase talent and for the academies around the world.”
