Team India, on its way to securing a place in the top 2 of the Group 1 to make it to the Semi-finals of the T20 World Cup, has registered a 5-run win against Bangladesh.
The clash between India and Bangladesh held massive importance as the hopes of the Indian Cricket Team are totally dependent on this clash, on Wednesday, November 3. Especially, after our countries lost to South Africa, on Sunday. Losing to South Africa made India’s way to the Semi-finals a little bit hard.
Highlights of the match
Bangladesh Captain, Shakib Al Hasan, won the toss and invited Indian batters to open first. From the very beginning, When our country was losing its wickets at regular intervals. India lost its first wicket in the form of Rohit Sharma, in the powerplay overs. Then came, Virat Kohli, at number 3, who was also one of the star performers of the match. Kohli remained ‘not out throughout the whole innings and contributed 64 runs off 44 balls to the team’s total.
KL Rahul could also be seen in an aggressive form much opposite to his previously low-scoring innings. Rahul added a half-century from 32 balls to the total scorecard of the team.
India’s batsman Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav also came into the limelight of the match after a small yet another crucial knock of 30 runs from 16 balls with a strike rate of 187.50. Indian batters managed to put 183 runs on the scoreboard. Suryakumar Yadav has been ranked number 1 in the ICC Men’s T20I batter rankings.
When Bangladesh openers came to bat, everything was going in Bangladesh’s favor, as the scoreboard was at 66 without any fall of wickets, after 7 overs. But, the match was delayed for some time due to the uncertain rain in Adelaide.
The match resumed, only with different conditions like the target, and the overs were reduced. Now, the target changed to 151 runs in 16 overs. Bangladesh had 10 wickets in hand and the total was looking quite easy to chase.
But then the leading batsman, Litton Das got run out by a direct hit from KL Rahul. The match result went into India’s side since then as Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya were keeping things under the tight control of their bowling. 20 runs were needed in just 6 deliveries but Arshdeep Singh’s yorkers brought that 5-run victory.
Shining Stars of the Match
- Virat Kohli, walked into the field at number 3 and remained not out with a score of 64 off 44 deliveries, became the leading run scorer in the T20Is with a total of 1065 runs surpassing the Sri Lankan legend, Mahela Jayawardene. Kohli also became the Player of the Match after contributing maximum runs amongst other batters to the team’s total.
- KL Rahul after facing continuous disappointments from his unsatisfactory batting performances in the last three matches of the T20 World Cup. He has finally lived up to his expectations after scoring a fifty, in 32 deliveries.
- Hardik Pandya targeted Mosaddek Hossain and Yasir Ali Chowdhury.
- Arshdeep Singh, the young talent of Team India, made Shakib Al Hasan and Afif Hossain head back to the pavilion.
