Team India won the second ODI on Tuesday from West Indies and clinched the series by 2-1. Despite losing the second ODI from West Indies, India continued experimenting with their team and won the series decider.
India had a very comfortable win Tuesday with a huge margin of 200 runs. Team India faced criticism for their team selection for the series but they continued to go with different players for checking the abilities of every player in the squad before the world cup.Â
Almost every player of team India performed in the third ODI match. Ishan Kishan was named the player of the series for his impressive performance in all three matches. He scored half-centuries in all three matches of the series and joined the elite list of scoring a half-century in every match of the series.
Although he could not convert those starts into big knocks, he is now included in the list with names such as MS Dhoni, Mohammad Azharuddin, Dilip Vengsarkar, Kris Srikkanth, and Shreyas Iyer.
Summary of Third ODI between India and West Indies
It was the biggest win for India, as India have never defeated West Indies with 200 runs in West Indies. This was the best batting surface till now in the whole series but West Indies batter didn’t quite stick to it.
Winning the toss, West Indies skipper Shai Hope chose to bowl first, He played the same team as the team was carrying confidence from the previous match. In contrast, India continued to rest Captain Rohit Sharma and Former Captain Virat Kohli. They even made changes to try out more new players. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Jaydev Unadkat were added to the playing eleven in the place of Axar Patel and Umran Malik.
Indian Openers did a tremendous job as Ishan Kishan once again scored 77 runs off 64 balls and Shubhman Gills got his touch backed and scored 85 runs off 92 balls. Ruturaj Gaikwad could not capitalise on his chance as he got out on just 8 runs.Â
Indian Middle order shines in the match as Sanja Samson scored a half-century which included four sixes. Skipper Hardik Pandya played a captain’s knock and scored 7o runs in just 52 balls with Suryakumar Yadav scoring 35 runs.
The team is looking to try Suryakumar Yadav for his T20 hitting abilities as Hardik Pandya has played a good anchor role ever since he moved to Gujarat Titans. Indian Pace bowler Mukesh Kumar strikes in his very first over and got Brandon King out on the outside edge.
The Windies kept throwing their wickets as they lost both the openers in just three overs and skipper Shai Hope followed them soon. Mukesh Kumar was amazing as he got his third wicket in just four overs. Jaydev Unadkat took a wicket in his first over in his comeback match.Â
Shardul Thakur was the main man as he got wickets in quick succession. Shardul Thakur ended the match by taking 4 wickets in just 6.3 overs.

Player of the match Shubhman Gill said he was looking for the big score but unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Ishan Kishan who was named the player of the series said he was not happy with his performance. He wanted to convert those big starts into big knocks, his seniors also advised him to do so.
Winning captain Hardik Pandya said it was more than just a game. There would be much if they lost the series as India hasn’t lost the series in a decade in west indies. He praised the boys and said, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are integral parts of the team but it was important to give opportunities to youngsters.
He even praised Former Captain Virat Kohli by saying he had a chat with him and he has helped him a lot throughout his career as he has watched and advised him throughout his career.
Losing captain Shai Hope said that they were looking to chase the target but today wasn’t their day. He even said that their team is unpredictable. Someday they play like the best team in the world and someday they get steamrolled.Â
