Crossing a milestone of 200 crore Covid-19 vaccinations, India the next 75 days commencing from July 15 before celebrating Indian Independence are the days to be remembered.
Soon after the government made the booster dose free to all adults, an exponential rise in the number of vaccination was experienced along the passage. Indeed, one of the greatest achievements for India.
After crossing the milestones in the two vaccination drives held in January 2021 and October 2021, India set out to reach the next milestone on July 17, 2021, by administering over 2 billion Covid-19 booster doses. Highlights on the Vaccination Drive, India
- Aim: To increase the uptake of the precautionary dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“17th July 2022, a day to remember forever,” Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya tweet read.
“On ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, all eligible populations (18+) can get a free precaution dose for the next 75 days, starting today,” he added. The crossing of the 200 crore mark was broadcasted on the Cowin portal dashboard in order to celebrate this remarkable journey to prevent and boost immunity against Covid-19.
The Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi shared his happiness with the tweet,
“India creates history again! Congrats to all Indians on crossing the special figure of 200 crore vaccine doses.”
Finally, the number of jabs is expected to increase on a daily basis. Children who belong to the age group of 12-14 were inoculated from March 16 onwards. With the removal of comorbidity criteria, all citizens aged above 60 are now eligible for precautionary doses of the vaccines.
