A passenger’s luggage cannot contain any guns, according to general legislation. If one of these goods is found in a traveller’s luggage at the security checkpoint, they may be charged with a crime. But what would people say if we discover that one couple was carrying 45 “totally functioning, useful” firearms, not just one or two? This is what took place in one of the most gruesome convulsions ever in Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
Customs officers at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport apprehended an Indian couple upon learning that they were in possession of 45 handguns valued Rs 2.25 million as they were returning from Vietnam. The defendants were listed as Jagjeet Singh and Jaswinder Kaur. Authorities claim that the pair acknowledged to smuggling 25 weapons from Turkey for a total of Rs. 1.25 million. They were travelling with their little daughter, who the authorities had sent to their grandma.
A customs official named Zubair Kamili stated that the family arrived from Vietnam on July 11. He disclosed that the accused Jagjeet was in possession of two trolley bags that had apparently been supplied to him by his older brother Manjit Singh, who had arrived from Paris at around the same time that day and departed the airport. Reports state that Jaswinder helped Jagjeet take the tags off the suitcases containing the firearms. The customs officers stopped them as they approached the departure gate and found the guns.
According to Customs Commissioner Zubair Kamili, “The suspects were held under section 104 of the Customs Act (power to arrest) and the trolleys, together with guns, were seized under section 110 of the Act (seizure of commodities).
