India finds itself in the list of top mysterious countries and holds its position tight with those being still unsolved. Owing to India’s vast size, cultural differences, mythological stories, it naturally becomes a land of strange tales. Such tales are born out of rumours or some are even the result of imagination. It can be said that most of these tales are fabricated and can be put off the table, but some tales are strange enough to shrug off. These have the ability to change the perception of modern technology and yet more the perception of the world. There are mysteries of India that are still looking for answers. No scientific reasoning has been able to solve these cases and they are still hanging in oblivion. Creepy as they sound, such tales will drive you nuts and leave you baffled.
- Padmanabhaswamy temple – This temple has six vaults built under its Sanctorum. From these, five of the vaults have been opened, but there is this one secret vault that remains unopened till date. It is believed that the opening of this vault could make the Lord extremely angry and annoyed.
- The Immortal Flame – “Jawala Ji” is the name of Hindu Goddess in Hinduism. She is said to reside as an eternal flame since time infinity near a place called Kangra in Lower Himalayas, India. The mystical and astonishing fact about this flame is that it is burning since time immemorial.
- Tirupati Balaji – The idol of the holy deity maintains a temperature of 110 degrees Fahrenheit, even though the surroundings are cool due to the steep location of the temple (3000 feet). Every morning, after the holy bath known as Abhishekham, droplets of sweat appear on the image of Balaji which have to be wiped off with a silken fabric by the priests. On Thursdays, when the priests remove the ornaments of the idol for a holy bath, they come off with a sensation of warmth.
- Jagannath temple – The deities are buried from every 14 to 18 years, one above another, replaced by new ones. These deities are made up of neem wood and are believe to be disintegrated on their own and has many secret facts.
- Shani Shingnapur – The shrine for Shani Devstahn, a black rock over five feet tall, installed on a platform without a roof, sits at the heart of the village in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. It’s this temple that strengthens the local tradition of not installing doors and locks to the village houses.
- The Floating Pillar – Lepakshi temple is a well known archeological and historical site dedicated to Lord Shiva. A strange thing about this place is that one out of the 70 pillars this temple is built on hangs in the air. This pillar is standing without any support.
- Nidhivan – There is a little temple called Rang Mahal or shringar-ghar of Radha Rani. According to folklore, Krishna visits here every night and adorn Radha with his own hands. You will see a bed inside and several ornaments and makeup products close to the bed. It is said that Lord Krishna do garba with gopis in the forest everynight.
- The Abandoned Village – Lying 20 km to the west of Jaisalmer, the ghost town of Kuldhara was a prosperous town of Paliwal Brahmins a few hundred years ago. Until one fatal night, when all its 1500 residents left the village without a trace.
- Lake of skeletons – Roopkund Lake is around 16500 ft above the sea level and is also popularly known as the lake of skeletons.
- Mass Bird suicide – Jatinga is a small village in Assam and people here experience a phenomenon that is so bizarre yet mysterious. The said phenomenon is mass bird suicide.
- Red Rain – The legend of red rain in Idukki Kerela mystified people. Also known as blood rain, it baffled people back in 2001. Such events are even unexplained through scientific reasons and render them so mysterious that they are marked in our minds forever.
- Twins Village – In Malappuram Kerala, a village is called the ‘Village of Twins’ due to the strikingly large number of twin births in the village. Not only that, whoever leaves this village and go to another place and gives birth they also end up having twins. This village currently claims to be having 200 pairs of twins.
- Padmavati Fort -There are many secret Raj burials in this Jauhar Kund. It is considered to have negative powers. It is believed that even today the sound of screaming comes from that Jauharkund. That is why no one goes to that Jauhar Kund.
- The royal treasure of Jaigarh Fort – As per the belief goes, Akbar’s Defence Minister Man Singh, while returning from Afghanistan after a successful mission, hid the spoils of war in this fort.
- Bhangarh Fort – It is completely forbidden to venture or stay inside Bhangarh Fort at night. As per the locals, anybody who managed to go inside the fort at night, they never returned to tell their tale, as it is believed that spirits roam there at night, which turns this place into a hotbed for paranormal activities.
There are many such beautiful fascinating places if we explore each and every corner of India. The land of dreams and romance, of fabulous wealth and fabulous poverty, of splendour and rags, of palaces and hovels, of famine and pestilence, of genii and giants and Aladdin lamps, of tigers and elephants, the cobra and the jungle, the country of hundred nations and a hundred tongues, of a thousand religions and two million gods, cradle of the human race, birthplace of human speech, mother of history, grandmother of legend, great-grandmother of traditions, whose yesterday’s bear date with the moderning antiquities for the rest of nations-the one sole country under the sun that is endowed with an imperishable interest for alien prince and alien peasant, for lettered and ignorant, wise and fool, rich and poor, bond and free, the one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for the shows of all the rest of the world combined. Our most valuable and most instructive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only…So just we need to save it and respect it.
