IndiGo suffered a massive delay in their domestic flights as the employees were on sick leave. It is speculated that due to Air India’s recruitment drive, many employees took leave to take part in it.
According to the ministry of aviation, only 45% of the domestic flights were on time which belonged to IndiGo on 2nd July. Â
IndiGo is India’s largest airline and it has more than 1500 flights on daily basis both domestic and international.
The possible reason behind IndiGo’s employee leave
Enjoy Dutta, CEO of IndiGo, said on 8th April that it will be difficult to increase the salary of the employees but it will try to increase according to the increase in the profit per year.
The above statement was made because a few pilots were suspended as they were going to hold a strike against IndiGo for the cut in their salary during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, IndiGo cut the salary of employees by almost 30%. This made some of the employees angry that the company don’t care for them that much.
Air India was bought back by the Tata Group in January. Air India is looking to expand its reach under the Tata Group. Tata Group has bought new airlines and is looking to expand their employees as well.

Air India is currently doing a recruitment drive and on Saturday there was a second stage of the recruitment drive. That’s the reason, it is speculated that the employee took the sick leave to participate in that drive.
This has caused them to have a difficult time as they faced many delays on their domestic flights. It is to be remembered that IndiGo is the largest Indian Airline and employee has to come back to work.
