BCCI Confirmed that Indian skipper and veteran opener Rohit Sharma ,Navdeep saini have been ruled out of the 2nd test match due to injury.
In a press release, BCCI confirmed that Indian skipper and veteran opener Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the 2nd test match against Bangladesh, starting in Dhaka from December 22. He had suffered a big blow thumb injury in the 2nd match of the ODI series and is yet to recover. Report Also confirmed that pacer Navdeep Saini will not be available for the second test match against Bangladesh due to an abdominal muscle strain.
After the 2nd ODI, Rohit was ruled out from the 3rd ODI match with the thumb injury and will no longer be available for the first Test, which India won by 188 runs on Sunday under Rahul’s captaincy. Abhimanyu Easwaran has come in as his replacement.
BCCI release further added, “Navdeep Saini is also ruled out of the second Test owing to an abdominal muscle strain. The fast bowler will now report to the NCA for further management of his injury,”.
Earlier the reports surfacing on internet suggesting that the India skipper hasn’t yet fully recovered from the thumb injury. As Rohit had come out to bat lower down the order in the 2nd ODI match, and during the post-match presentation, he himself had confirmed that the injury didn’t look good. After that Rohit went on to Mumbai to get an expert’s opinion on his injury and has been monitored by the National cricket Academy. Rohit after missing the test series Bangladesh, will probably available for the upcoming series against Srilanka.
“About Rohit, we may be able to know (his status) in the next day or two, even I am not aware of it,” skipper KL Rahul said after winning the first Test.
Now, KL Rahul will lead India in Dhaka test in the absence of regular captain Rohit Sharma. India will go for the clean sweep against the Bangladesh after winning in 2nd match.

India will play six ODIs and as many T20Is in January against Sri Lanka and New Zealand at home. The white-ball series will be followed by a Four Test match series against Australia beginning February 9. As the volume of cricket will be quite a lot in the upcoming 1-2 months, So Rohit has been thoroughly monitored by the Academy to get fully fit.
Rohit Sharma’s fitness Issue :
Within 2-3 years, Indian star veteran opener and skipper Rohit Sharma had missed many Test series in the winter season due to injury. Australia, South-Africa and England series were missed by the veteran in the recent past. In 2022, Rohit missed all the away test series. It reflects the fitness Issue with the skipper in the busy cricketing schedule. He must have to work on his workload management to provide stability to the team.
As the ODI world cup 2024, is on its verge, our full-strength team must have to play collectively for the proper playing 11 in the world cup. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammad Shami are currently out of the team with injuries.
