BCCI Secretary Jay Shah on Thursday confirmed that the Indian Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is fit and ready to get picked in the T20 series against Ireland which will be a three-match series starting from August 18. The return of the pacer will give team India substantial support ahead of their major clashes in 2024, which include two prominent tournaments Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup 2024.
During the BCCI meeting in New Delhi Shah also confirmed that the World Cup schedule will also undergo some changes as per the request of several nations regarding the logistics.
Secretary Jay Shah stated that Jasprit is totally fit and he may go to Ireland for the T20s.
Bumrah will return to the competitive scenario almost after a gap of 10-11 months. Jasprit last played against the Aussies last September where he suffered a back injury and was out of action in India’s major contests including the T20 World Cup in Australia, IPL 2024 and World Test Championship (WTC) final.
Bumrah was a major missing in the WTC final as Rohit’s team India lost the contest second time in a row, this time by a big margin of 209 runs where Travis Head played a dominant innings of 163 and 18 and led the Australian side to claim the ICC mace for the 2021-23 season.
The Indian seamer went under surgery in March this year and later was under rehab at the National Cricket Academy(NCA) in Bengaluru, along with KL Rahul who picked a thigh injury during the IPL 2024 season and Indian WK Rishabh Pant who had met with an accident in Dehradun on December 30.
The right-arm pacer is currently gaining perfect fitness, the National Cricket Academy guidelines stated that Jasprit was expected to make his comeback during the Asia Cup in September but now will lead the bowling side during their play against Ireland.
Recently the Indian side is playing the ODI series against two-time world champions West Indies who unfortunately failed to qualify for the 2024 World Cup to be held in India.
The report added that the selection committee will declare the squad for the Ireland series soon this week.
Mohammed Siraj rested after an injury scare:
Another star right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj has been rested from the ODI squad after complaining of a sore ankle, according to the statement by the medical team Siraj has been rested by the Board of Cricket as a precautionary measure.
No replacement will be called for Mohammed, the statement added.
Mukesh Kumar made his ODI debut as the replacement for Siraj during the first match played yesterday where India won by 5 wickets with 163 balls remaining.
Kuldeep Yadav won the Player of the Match award for his excellent bowling where he took 4 wickets in 3 overs.

After a comfortable win against West Indies Kuldeep talked about his relationship with Chahal and their ‘Kul-Cha’ bond. The spinner expressed that they share a brotherly relationship and they always learn from one another.
While communicating with ESPNcricinfo, Yadav shared that Chahal helps him a lot and suggests to him what better he can do to perform well and he does the same when he plays. The left-arm wrist spinner stated this as the reason why their partnership has worked over the years.
While talking about the contributions of the seniors, Kuldeep said that when he brought chances into his game, Virat and skipper Rohit Sharma supported him, he also said that coach Rahul Dravid also backed him a lot for the changes he made.
While many of the fans await to see the Kul-Cha play together, Kuldeep said that it totally depends upon the conditions.
