In T-20 Cricket World Cup Jasprit Bumrah could be seen being replaced by Muhammed Shami. The nightmare for the India team has come to reality as Jasprit Bumrah has been taken out from the world cup lineup because he suffered a back injury. It seems that he will be replaced by Muhammed Shami in the upcoming campaign of the T-20 World cup which will be held in Australia.
As Muhammed Siraj will be on standby in Australia Mohammed Shami will be seen taking the place of Bumrah in the 15 men’s squad during the world cup. As per the news sources, it was said that the choice was between Deepak Chahar and Shami if Bumrah somehow did not manage to make it into the team.
The Indian team management seemed to always have a backup for the players who had similar abilities. Chahar was seen as a backup for Bhuvneshwar Kumar but he was the first choice of wing bowler for the team.
Shami was also taken as a backup for Bumrah, so as Bumrah could not make it to the team he will be taking his place in the world cup campaign and whereas Chahar will be included in the squad but will be seen on standby.
On Monday the BCCI secretary stated that the medical team BCCI has taken Jasprit Bumrah from the squad of ICC Men’s T-20 World Cup after the assessment and consultation taken from the specialist. He was taken out for a back injury from the team way back when the squad was playing 3 matches T-20 series with South Africa. The BCCI also said that they will soon announce the replacement.
Without the permission of the ICC, the India Team still has some time till October 15th to announce the name for the replacement of Bumrah. As Shami missed both the T-20 series against Australia and South Africa for Covid-19, Mohammed Siraj did well in both India’s tour to Australia in 2020-21 and the test series, so this makes Chahar a strong contender for the replacement of Jasprit Bumrah.
On 23rd October it is clear that India will play their opener with their rival Pakistan in the T-20 World Cup, if Bumrah needs to make a presence he has to make it in this little time otherwise he would be seen to make it back into the team with his fitness in the test series against Bangladesh and Australia which will happen after the T-20 World Cup.Â
