The accused in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case are charged with various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Arms Act.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a chargesheet on Thursday before a Jaipur court against the 11 accused who brutally murdered the Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal Teli on June 28.
According to the sources, two of the 11 suspects, are Pakistanis, and Salman bhai, who lives in Pakistan, is said to have planned the murder.
Kanhaiya Lal was 48 when he was killed by Riyaz Attari and Mohammad Ghous after he supported the suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s comments on the Prophet Mohammad through social media. The two murdered him while he was in the shop and attacked the co-worker in the broad daylight, recorded the crime on their phones, and shared the footage on social media which created a sense of panic among the people. They then made a threat against Prime Minister Narendra Modi while posing with the knife that was used in the crime. Several hours after the murder, the pair was arrested.
Kanhaiyalal murder case
As per, reports Attari is said to be linked with a radical organization Dawat-e-Islami. He along with the co-accused had also gone to Karachi in Pakistan in 2014 to visit the organization.
The goal of the Dawat-e-Islami organization which is in Karachi is to promote the teachings of the Quran and Shariah across the world. It has a large following in Pakistan and supports that country’s blasphemy law.
The accused have been charged by the NIA under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Arms Act.
According to the NIA chargesheet, the inquiry led to a conspiracy by 11 accused who were a part of a terror module. The NIA said that the defendants were radicalized and found motivation in incriminating audio, video, and message transmissions coming from both inside and outside of India.
Apart from, Riyaz Attari and Mohammad Ghous who is from Udaipur the NIA has filed a chargesheet against Salman and Abu Ibrahim both are residents of Karachi, Pakistan, along with a number of other Udaipur residents Mohsin Khan, Asif Hussain, Mohammad Mohsin, Vasim Ali, Farhad Mohammad Sheikh, Mohammed Javed, and Muslim Khan.
The accused have been charged with sections 120B, 449, 302, 307, 324, 153(A), 153(B), 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as well as Sections 16, 18, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Section 4/25 (1B)(b) of the Arms Act.
