At the trailer launch of R: The Deadliest Gangster Ever, Karnataka Kannada film actor Makhi fame Sudeep said that Bollywood is not good at making pan-India films. And also, he said at the event that Hindi is not a national language, and regional filmmakers are making films that take a good place.
Everyone says that a Kannada film was made on a pan-India level. But a small correction is that Hindi is not a national language at all. Today, Bollywood produces many Pan-Indian movies. They are being released in Telugu and Tamil. But that does not mean they are a hit.
But the movies we are releasing today are being watched all over the world. “Southern directors are making their films for the entire world to see,” he said.
After his statement, Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn took charge and replied on Twitter, saying that “Hindi was, is, and will always be our mother tongue and national language.” He was reacting to Kannada actor Sudeep Sanjeev, known only as “Sudeep,” who pointed out at a recent event that Hindi is not the national language.

Later on, two Karnataka former chief ministers jumped into the debate and slammed Ajay Devgn on Twitter. They said that Hindi is not our national language and neither will it be.
Former chief minister of Karnataka Siddarmaiah strongly criticized Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn during the debate, and after Siddarmaiah, former chief minister and Janata Dal (secular) Head HD Kumaraswamy of Karnataka supported Kannada actor Sudeep. And he directly attacked Ajay Devgn, “calling him a BJP mouthpiece.”
In a tweet, Mr. Kumaraswamy said, “Ajay Devgn blabbered as a mouthpiece of the BJP’s Hindi Nationalism of one nation, one tax, one language, and one government.”
It all started after Ajay Devgn said, “Hindi was, is, and will constantly be our mother tongue and national language.” He was responding to Kannada actor Sudeep Sanjeev, referred to just as Sudeep, who brought up at a new lunch trailer event that Hindi isn’t the national language.
It all happened after the huge success of the blockbuster Kannada film “K.G.F: Chapter 2″, which has done immensely well even in North India. Mr. Sudeep said, “everyone says that a Kannada film was made on a pan-India level, but a small correction is that Hindi is not a national language anymore.”
He went on to criticize Hindi Bollywood, saying that while it produces many Pan-India films that are released in Telugu and Tamil, it struggles to make progress on the same scale. “Today we are making films that are going all over,” he said.
Responding to the remark, Ajay Devgn labeled the Kannada actor on Twitter and asked him for what good reason he releases Hindi-dubbed versions of movies made in his mother tongue.
Former Chief Minister Mr. Kumaraswamy replied on Twitter by saying “Hindi-based political parties” have always tried to “destroy” regional languages. He targeted both Congress and the BJP, saying Congress started “Hindi imposition”, which is being continued by the BJP.
“Devgan must realize that Kannada cinema is outgrowing the Hindi film industry.” Because of the encouragement from Kannadigas, Hindi cinema has grown.
“The JD (S) pioneer said that Devgan shouldn’t forget that his first movie, ‘Phool our Kaante’, ran for a year in Bengaluru.” He further called attempts to impose Hindi “an addiction to primacy” and a danger to India’s solidarity.
A fixation on power is partitioning the country. A seed planted by the BJP has become infectious, partitioning the country. “This is a danger to India’s solidarity,” he said in the remainder of his seven tweets on the discussion.
As the trade between the two actors was raised previously, both appeared to endeavor to stop the heightening debate by pinning it on the message being lost in interpretation.
While Mr. Sudeep, answering Mr. Devgn, guaranteed he offered the comment in an unexpected setting in comparison to how it contacted him and that it wasn’t to “hurt, incite or to begin any discussion”, Mr. Devgn said thanks to him for “clearing up the misconception”.

A few movies from south India have as of late seen exceptional success in the box office in the south, however, all over the nation prompting a ton of discussion on why Hindi language films aren’t as effective in that frame of mind of the country.
The discussion on the Hindi imposition detonated again after Union Home Minister Amit Shah late said that Hindi, and not regional languages, should be acknowledged as an option for alternatives to English. Opposition parties pummeled the comment, calling it an attack on India’s pluralism and stating they will force to impose “Hindi imperialism”.
