On Tuesday, May 31, the Kerala High Court brought together a lesbian couple whose parents had split them up because they disagreed with their relationship.
The ladies were permitted to live together after one of them filed a habeas corpus petition asking the court to order the police to deliver her boyfriend ā a Kozhikode native ā reportedly forcibly removed from the petitioner’s house by her parents.
The court initially requested that the police bring the Kozhikode native before it, and when she did, she said she wanted to live with the petitioner.
The judge accepted their request since both ladies were adults who wished to live together.
The petitioner, an Ernakulam local, first took to social media to attract attention to her same-sex relationship with a schoolmate, their families’ objection to it, and the eventual taking away of her partner, reportedly by force, by the latter’s parents.
In her social media video uploads, she claimed that not only had her friend’s family dragged her away by force but that the police had also done nothing to bring her back.
However, the police said that they had interfered in the case from the beginning and that the second lady, a Kozhikode local, had granted written consent to leave with her parents.
It had also said that it was willing to go to whatever length to preserve the rights of the Ernakulam resident who is now residing away from her parents in a short-stay facility.
According to authorities, the lady filed a complaint with Aluva police on Monday, alleging that her boyfriend was carried away by force by the latter’s parents.
The lady stated in her writings that she initially went to the Thamarassery police station with a complaint but that no action was taken.
She further said that her acquaintance had been absent for many days and that the latter’s family members were also missing.
According to her video clips, the two ladies met in Saudi Arabia while studying at a local school in class XI.
According to her postings, they realized they were both lesbians and in love at the end of class XII.
When their respective parents found out about their connection, they lied and stated they would end it, but they maintained their romance once they returned to India and started college.
According to the social media postings, they also conducted research on the LGBTQIA+ community and gathered contact information for numerous groups, organizations, and individuals that support them.
Following that, the Ernakulam resident traveled to Kozhikode to meet her buddy, and they both sought refuge at a house run by Vanaja Collective, which claims to work for the LGBTQIA+ community’s welfare.
Following that, their parents visited them at home, and on the guarantees of safety provided by the family of the Ernakulam residents, both ladies accompanied them.
Her relatives reportedly blackmailed and mentally abused both ladies at her house. Then one day, the mother, sister, and others acquainted with the Kozhikode local arrived with a petition saying she had been kidnapped and was being kept against her will, according to the Ernakulam resident.
According to the tweets, they urged the Ernakulam resident’s father to hold her back and pulled her girlfriend away.
She said that she was only able to reach her buddy a few days later when the latter was apparently in a clinic in Malappuram and that there had been no more communication from her end.
According to her message, even the Kozhikode native’s family is not approachable via phone since their Phones are turned off.
She said that her friend’s mother informed her that she would be brought before a judge in a few days, but nothing had happened.
She filed a motion in court today, saying that her girlfriend was being unjustly detained by her parents.Ā
