Address by Khan scheduled for 30th March 2022 canceled, Khan’s government faces a political crisis Â
The nation address scheduled to be given by Imran Khan on Wednesday, 30th March 2022 was later canceled. The address followed the no-confidence motion initiated against him on Monday, 28th March 2022.
The political stand of Khan’s Government was put at risk. His political allies took to his political opposition in a mutual agreement for the no-confidence motion. Â
The Government of the present Prime Minister Imran Khan was put at risk after the no-confidence motion against him. The motion was raised mutually by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan, and Pakistan’s People’s Party. Khan lost his allies to the opposition with political cracks in government.
The no-confidence motion was scheduled to take place on the 3rd of April according to Sheikh Rashid, Interior Minister.
PMO Pakistan lost its coalition party member. A draft agreement was also created at the Parliament Lodges. The agreement was drafted by opposition party leaders and MQM-P.
“The united opposition and MQM have reached an agreement. Rabta committee MQM and PPP CEC will ratify the said agreement. We will then share details with the media in a press conference tomorrow IA. Congratulations Pakistan,” said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP chairmanÂ
The no-confidence motion was initiated in a 342-member house. Thus, to win the political crisis, Khan needs 172 votes. The no-confidence motion was moved on Monday, 28th March 2022.
Khan’s party lawmakers were instructed by him on Tuesday to either not attend the session or abstain from voting. Counter-strategizing the no-confidence motion, Khan was claimed to address the nation on 30th March 2022.
In addition to this, he was also set to attend a meeting with journalists and Pakistan National Assembly members. He officially held the special session of the federal cabinet on Wednesday, 30th March 2022.
The main objective of the special session was to rebuild the cracks in the political party. He planned on reclaiming the lawmakers with 12 members in the lower house respectively. Â
Khan made many counterclaims to this motion. He said that he was skeptical about the motion as it seemed like a “Foreign Conspiracy” to bring down his Government in the state. He also added that a letter possessed the proof for the same. On 30th March 2022, he was also expected to show up with the letter. Â
He also shared some details of what he called the letter regarding the “foreign conspiracy” that was meant to topple his government. He goes on to add that in democracies, a political crisis is common. The no-confidence, he said, is a “foreign imported crisis”.
He claimed that people outside the country were not happy with the well-functioning government. The Minister of Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Hussain added that Khan will not resign. He portrayed that the current PMO Pakistan will not back down.
He reiterated that he had a document that contained all the proof for his claims. However, his opposition claimed that the letter is just a means of diverting attention from the current issue to reclaim power.
The opposition party said that it was too late to reclaim any members. The country is waiting for further decisions to be taken on this matter.
