Since the beginning of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Virat Kohli has represented just one team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), is known for Virat Kohli and his performances (IPL). The former Indian cricket team captain has been a member of the team since the first season of the IPL in 2008.
Kohli has spent 15 seasons with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and he has been their captain for eight of those seasons, even though the said team has yet to win the IPL. By this time, Kohli has scored a total of 6469 runs in 217 matches, at an average of 36.55 innings pitched.
He announced before the IPL 2021 season that he would no longer serve as the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain starting in the 2022 season. Kohli’s dedication to the team, on the other hand, has not faded in the face of attractive offers to join other teams.
“To be quite honest, I gave it some attention. Yes, I will not shy away from it, and I have been contacted on several occasions to participate in the auction in some form.” said the former RCB captain. “And then I thought about it, and I realized that at the end of the day, everyone has a certain number of years to live, after which they die and life will continue. There would have been a lot of outstanding individuals who would have won several trophies and awards, but no one would approach you in that manner.” he continued.
In an interview with RCB’s franchisee program, which was broadcast on Star Sports, Kohli noted, “The truth that you are an IPL champion or a World Cup champion isn’t something people have mentioned to you in the room.”
“As the saying goes, ‘If you are a nice person, people will move toward you. If you are a bad man, people will simply avoid you,’ and eventually, that is what life is all about. For me, the knowledge that my loyalty to RCB is similar to the way I live my life is far more important than the fact that five people in the room will say, ‘Oh, at last, you win the IPL with whoever Xyz.’” he added.
Kohli went on to say that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had faith in him and supported him throughout the years when he was struggling, particularly in the early stages of his career. When it comes to opportunities, Kohli says, “What this franchise has provided me in terms of possibilities and belief in me in the first three years is the most amazing thing because, as I said, there are many teams who had the opportunity but did not support me and did not trust me. So, now that I have achieved success, I should be subjected to the opinions of those who say “but” to the IPL. This was the case for me until the fall of 2018 when I went to England for the first time.”
Taking about his performance in England, he said, “For four years of my life, I was performing well wherever I went, except for England, which was a disappointment. But in that case, “but” means you literally cannot live your life that way. I just keep on doing my things, and I honestly don’t care whether a third party other than myself and Anushka is there when we talk things over and are genuine to ourselves, which is all that matters to me. For me, it doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks or what they think about me.”
