Legendary defender and the President of Hockey India Dilip Tirkey believes that the current Indian team is the quality team to qualify for the World Cup and win it after 47 years. Being the hosts, the upcoming edition furnishes a great opportunity to be the last man standing on the podium.

The 45 years old played his first World Cup in 1998. Dilip Tirkey became the chairman of Hockey Odisha in 2021. Later in 2022, he became the head or president of Hockey India, where he also played as a former defender.
He was also part of the 1998 Asian Games gold medal-winning team, which participated in three world cups and many Olympics.
The World Cup Is Hosted By Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, India
The World Cup match will be held between January 13 to 29 in Kalinga Stadium and Bisra Munda Stadium in Bhubaneswar and Raurkella, respectively. It will be the 15th term of the Men’s Hockey World Cup. There would be 44 matches in total, among which 23 would be semifinals, and the final match would be played on the Kalinga Podium in Bhubaneswar. The rest matches will be held in the Newly constructed Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela.
There was tremendous haste to buy the tickets. According to the reports, only tickets from 13 to 14 are left for sale, while no seat is available for any day between 13 and 29. All tickets have been sold online.

The Current Members Of The Men’s Hockey Team
Captain Harmanpreet Singh and vice-captain Manpreet Singh will lead the Indian team with 11 players. Some fresh players, Mohd Raheel Mouseen and S Karthi would be playing in the 15th Men’s Hockey World Cup.
As goalkeepers: Krishan Bahadur Pathak and Sreejesh Parattu Raveendran will serve the team.
The position of defenders will be followed by Jarmanpreet Singh, Surender Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh, Mandeep Mor, and Nilam Sanjeep Xess.
As midfielders Sumit, Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, Shamsher Singh, Nilakanta Sharma, Rajkumar Pal, Mohd. Raheel Mouseen lead the team forward.

History Of FIH Hockey World Cup
The international field hockey competition was first started in 1971 and is held every four years, bridging the summer Olympics. Following the records, Pakistan has won the most titles with four titles, with India only one total so far.
Similar to the men’s, the women’s FIH Hockey World Cup was started in 1974. Since 1986, the sport has been held every four years, in the same year as the Men’s Hockey World Cup. As per the current reports, India has not won any World Cups so far.
