Amazing news for Indian Otakus, the wait is now over, ‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’ a movie prequel to the anime series ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ will be released in Indian cinemas on 30 June.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is arguably one of the most anticipated anime films in India. Since the worldwide release of Jujutsu Kiasen 0 on 24 December 2021, Indian Otakus have been eagerly waiting for the movie for six months and now the wait is over. The movie will officially hit on PVR cinemas on 30 June.
Jujutsu Kaisen – illustrated and written by gege Akutami, is a magna anime series. The series revolve around Yuji Itadori, a high school student, who joins a secret group of Jujutsu Sorcerers in order to slay Ryomen Sukuna. Sukuna is a powerful Curse of which Yuji becomes the host.
On March 19, PVR Pictures confirmed to ANN that it had not yet secured the Indian film license for the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 anime film. The firm did not answer to ANN’s request for comment at the time, although it did remark that it hoped to bring more anime films to Indian theatres.
The Indian otaku community was ecstatic after PVR announced the release of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 in an Instagram post, however, they later erased the post. As a result, many people started wondering if Jujutsu Kaisen 0 would ever be released in India.
However, PVR Pictures on Twitter confirmed the release along with the poster. “You’ve waited a long time for this one, Indian anime fans! Presenting the official posters for the highly anticipated anime film Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie. Make sure that you watch one of 2022’s biggest anime releases on the big screen! Releasing in cinemas on 30th June!” said the caption.
After beating Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time, the film became the highest-grossing film in Japan for the calendar year 2021. Seasonally adjusted for inflation, the movie is presently the seventh highest-grossing anime film ever made.
The jujutsu Kaisen series however were topping the charts with about 6 awards by Crunchyroll under them. One of them included the award for Best Action.
