How idea came ??
India Lockdown was declared by Madhur Bhandarkar for 2021. He had previously shown the poster to the cast. His most recent movie, Babli Bouncer, with Tamannaah Bhatia as the lead, underperformed at the box office.
In a previous interview with Hindustan Times, Madhur explained how he came up with the idea for the India Lockdown during the pandemic: “After 2017 I was working on a total of 3 subjects, including Babli Bouncer. It took three years to develop a Babli Bouncer, an over-the-top cop action drama, and a hard-hitting movie focused on women.
People frequently switch between films, but I preferred to devote more time to writing. We kept the cast in mind as the details for Babli Bouncers were being finalised.
Corona travelled to India in the mid of it. It has been ongoing for two years. We were just doing nothing. I also worked on the soon-to-be-released film India Lockdown.
Along with others, it features Prateik Babbar, Aahana Kumra, and Shweta Basu Prasad. It has the support of Pranav Jain’s P J Motions Pictures, Madhur Bhandarkar’s Bhandarkar Entertainment, and Jayantilal Gada of PEN Studios.
Pen Studio’s Chairman and MD, Dr. Jayantilal Gada, said: “Great material and outstanding directors have always been connected with Pen Studios. Lockdown in India is exactly that. Everyone will be able to relate to the story in some manner because the pandemic affects everyone in some way. We are pleased to work with Madhur Bhandarkar and such content-driven film because he is a brilliant storyteller.”
Brief Description of MovieÂ
The four parallel stories examined are those of a father-daughter pair who are separated at a pivotal time in the daughter’s life; a sex worker and the difficulties the lockdown causes her in both her personal and professional life; a migrant worker who struggles to make ends meet for his family; and an air hostess who, for the first time, has some downtime that compels her to reflect.
Roles PlayedÂ
While the lockdown announcement is being made, Shweta Basu plays a sex worker who is seen doubting the seriousness of Covid-19.
Prateik portrays a migrant worker who must travel on foot with his family back to his village because there aren’t enough jobs available.
On the other hand, Aahana Kumra who potrays a pilot, is shown turning to drink while stranded at home.
Chief Business Officer of ZEE5 Excitement
We are excited to announce our upcoming original movie, “India Lockdown,” according to Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer of ZEE5 India. It is a thrilling cooperation with Madhur Bhandarkar, who has the ability to write stories that are motivated by genuine occurrences and who is excellent at reading the emotions of the audience.
In this movie, common folks from all around India share their experiences during the corona pandemic-related lockdown. The path-breaking content that is relatable yet compelling is something we at ZEE5 believe in, and this movie encompasses all of that and more.
“Lockdown was a challenging moment for many as individuals battled to make ends meet, and that provided seed the concept to make a film on people affected by the lockdown,” said director Madhur Bhandarkar.
My observations led to the creation of “India Lockdown,” which tells the unvarnished tales of actual individuals from diverse walks of life. I’m happy that this movie will broadcast on ZEE5 and be seen by so many people throughout the world since it will resonate with many people in some way.
This will be the second OTT film directed by Madhur Bhandarkar this year.
