After a long wait, Maharashtra Education Ministry announced the opening date for Maharashtra schools’ post-summer, 15th June 2022.
The announcement came from Varsha Gaikwad, the Education Minister of the western state.
She took to Twitter on 11th June to release an official notice from the government to declare the end of the summer vacations. She also asked the school students to “pack their bags” and get ready.
The schools in Maharashtra were closed in April 2022. The reasons for the extended holidays were partly the summer vacations and mostly the COVID uprise in the state. Students will physically attend school after two months.
All schools have been instructed to follow proper covid protocols to avoid any rise in covid numbers.
Maharashtra Education Minister’s Tweet
Gaikwad wrote a sweet message for the school-goers while announcing the notice on tweeter. She wrote,” It’s school time again!!”.
The minister stated that the schools are ready again to welcome the students after summer. She also asked the students to “set (their) alarm clocks”, and “pack (their) bags”.

The minister also mentioned in her tweet that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against all students who drop out of school.
“To uphold every child’s right to education, we should strive for a zero-tolerance policy against school dropouts” she tweeted.
For this, the ministry has asked local authorities to conduct detailed surveys. These surveys will be used to identify dropouts and bring them back to school.
From such data, measures can also be taken to reduce the number of dropouts in schools.
The schools are to organize events in order to celebrate the return back of the students physically to the classrooms. This is also to encourage the students to come to school again.
“And to begin a year of #learningwithfun, we’ve planned a fun-filled first-day #Backtoschool for all of you,” Gaikwad mentioned in her tweet.
