Premier League club Manchester City has signed Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji on the deadline day. The agreement between the club is worth €17.5m. Akanji has signed a 5-year deal with Manchester City.

The 27-year-old defender signed for Dortmund in 2018 and made 158 appearances for the club. Manuel Akanji is the 5th signing for Manchester City this summer on top of many players who returned after their loan spells ended. Manchester City is playing to defend their Premier League title and to win the Champions League for the first time in their history.

Akanji’s signing will strengthen the club’s defense, which is already loaded with the likes of Ruben Dias, and John Stones.

Manchester City is currently sitting at 2nd in the Premier League table below table-toppers Arsenal. After thrashing Nottm Forest 6-0 on Thursday, they will try to move top of the table when they face Aston Villa on 3rd September.
