Manchester United has been in the transfer market for a midfielder all summer and it looks like now they have set their eyes to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot. After chasing Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong for more than 3 months, it looks like United has still not found a way to bring the Netherland international to Old Trafford.
While Frenkie de Jong remains the top long-term target for Manchester United, they still don’t want to take any chances in case they fail to sign him.
Who is Adrien Rabiot and why Manchester United are interested?
The French international who is 27 is a Juventus midfielder who was a regular member of Massimiliano Allegri’s side last season but has indicated his intentions to leave the club this summer. Adrien did not go to the pre-season tour of United States with the club due to personal reasons.
Rabiot who only has one year on his contract remaining with the Italian club can join Man Utd for somewhere around a £15 million fee. According to top transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, the club is in direct contact with the player and his mother Veronique who is also the player’s agent.
Manchester United and Juventus are ready to complete the deal for Adrien Rabiot as the agreement was reached on Monday, but the personal terms have yet to be agreed upon. The club is in talks with Rabiot’s agent to get things done. As reported earlier by top transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, Erik Ten Hag had a direct call with the player on Monday.

Man Utd miss out on signing Benjamin Šeško and Marko Arnautović
Another young player Manchester United was chasing this summer will join the German club RB Leipzig from Austrian club FC Red Bull Salzburg next summer. Leipzig wanted to sign the striker this summer but Salzburg made it clear that they have no intention to let go of Šeško and any deal will require him to sign in 2024.
Šeško is happy to stay at the Austrian club this summer. Leipzig has signed Šeško on a permanent deal valid from next summer to June 2028.
Another forward Marko Arnautović 33, who plays for Serie A club Bologna will stay after the club president Marco di Vaio said that they are proud of Man United’s interest in Marko but are not planning to sell the player as he is a key part of their project. He further added that there’s not even a price tag for the player.
After missing out on forwards Šeško and Marko, Man Utd will hope to strike a deal with Rabiot and will look to close out on the important transfer of Frenkie de Jong.
