According to an official announcement, major profiles assigned to Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, who is currently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate, have been handed over to Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Jain in a money laundering case.
A court here on Tuesday ordered Jain to be held in ED custody till June 9, stating the need for his interrogation to uncover the suspected bigger conspiracy.
The BJP and the Congress have asked that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal fire Jain from his Cabinet.
“In exercise of powers conferred under Rule 3 of GNCTD(Allocation of Business) Rules 193, Lt Governor in consultation with the Chief Minister is pleased to allocate portfolios of Health, Industries, Power, Home, Urban Development, Irrigation and Flood Control, and Water to Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister, in addition to the portfolios he is currently holding,” said the notification issued by the Delhi government on Wednesday.
” As a result of the added fees, Sisodia’s total number of portfolios has increased to 18.”
According to Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Kapoor, only Sisodia and Jain were given all of the crucial ministries, while other ministers such as Gopal Rai and Imran Hussain were only given 2-3 departments.
On Thursday, during a press conference , Kejriwal claimed that he was told by a reliable source that Sisodia may also be detained by a central agency in the coming days in any “bogus” case.
Many vital initiatives, such as the Mohalla Clinics and the cleanup of the Yamuna River, may be postponed as a result of Jain’s detention, according to the chief minister.
The charge of the Public Works Department (PWD) was seized from Jain and handed over to Sisodia earlier this year.
The shift came approximately a month after Kejriwal said that Jain would be detained by the ED in the run-up to the Punjab Assembly elections.
