Red Bull’s Max Verstappen heads into the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit with a staggering lead of 104 points over Ferrari rival Charles Leclerc and 106 points over his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez. With 5 races to go in the 2022 Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen has his first real chance to clinch the title before the season ends.
To claim his second consecutive world title, Max Verstappen would have to be at a 112 point lead over the driver in 2nd place in the standings. To make this happen, he would have to win the race with the additional fastest lap point, with many other possible permutations, but this one being the best.Â
The outcome is entirely in Max Verstappen’s hands, but he says that nothing less than perfection would be enough. He also said that it would be extra special to win the title in Japan, because of Red Bull’s close relations with Honda.Â
Max Verstappen looked back at the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay in terms of the things not to do- A fuel error in qualifying and a podium costing lock up on Sunday.Â
The teams head to the Suzuka Circuit for this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, and there’s a world championship win on the lookout.  Â
