The members of the Kuki and Meitei groups engaged in violence in the Meghalayan capital. Conflict broke out close to the Mizo Morden School in Nongrim Hills. The police moved quickly and detained 16 members of both communities.
The police warned the residents of the two villages that they would take stern action against anyone who attempted to stir up trouble or encourage violence in order to preserve law and order.

In order to examine the security situation in the state, which has been experiencing unprecedented violence, Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over two video conference sessions with Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and senior state government officials.
