An NGO based in Bhopal is organizing a function to celebrate the divorce of 18 men. The NGO organizing the event goes by the name of Bhai Welfare Society and runs a helpline for men who are facing trouble with divorce battles.
The organizers of this event argue that this is a fight on many fronts, whether that be social, economic or mental. Therefore, once this freedom from the shackles of marriage is achieved, it deserves to be celebrated.
The organizer of the event, Zakir Ahmed, had this to say, “Our organization fights cases of such people. In the last two and a half years, 18 men have freed themselves from marriages that made their lives difficult. We strengthen them mentally through our helpline.
There is a court battle. Then, in most cases, they have to pay a large amount for settlement. So, these people have gone through a lot of stress. There is a need for such an event so that they can move forward in their lives with new enthusiasm. “
The organisers also said that this is a way of motivating men who got divorced recently and making them aware of the fact that they can now proceed with their lives in a better way.
Among the participants of this event were a man who had been married for just over a day and another who had been married for 30 years.
The organizers have reiterated that they will not reveal the names of the former spouses, and the organization will conduct a low-key event.
