The theme for the 2024 Met Gala is “Karl Lagerfeld:

‘A Line of Beauty’ pays tribute to Metropolitan Museum of Art regular Karl Lagerfeld.

The ball tends to raise millions of dollars for the Met’s Costume Institute, which hosts an accompanying exhibition , through the sale of tickets purchased by designers and brands. Tickets are around $35,000 to $300,000.

Met and its legacy

The Met Gala as we know it today is one of the biggest events for fashion, celebrity, and pop culture.

But it wasn’t always a night of dramatic, star-studded costumes.

The event underwent a cultural shift when Diana Vreeland was hired as a consultant for the Costume Institute, the Met Gala venue was moved to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and a Gala theme was added in the history.

Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour now oversees the benefits, guest list, and themes and works closely with the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the event each year. It is also said to approve which designer a prominent guest is wearing and to reject guests selected by table sponsors in favour of others.

Karl Lagerfeld’s A Line of Beauty is the theme for this year to honour the former creative director of Chanel, who passed away in 2019. Fashion’s biggest night takes place on the first Monday of May, this year on May 1st, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and London.

The 2024 Met Gala will take place in New York City on Monday, May 1st. The event has been held on the first Monday of May every year since 2005, but in 2020 the Met Gala was cancelled, and in 2021 it was held in September due to the pandemic.

Who is attending

The guest list is strictly confidential until the night before the event. But business moguls regularly attend, from Beyoncé and Lady Gaga to Madonna and Rihanna. Most of the time, the designer joins in with the muse.

Isha Ambani also appeared in 2017. It debuted at the 2010 fashion event and has since become a fixture at the event. Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is set to make her Met Gala debut this year. She represents India on the red carpet at her prestigious fashion event. According to some reports, the actor will wear costumes designed by Nepali-American fashion designer Prabal Gurung.

The MET Gala was created by Anna Wintour, who serves as Gala Chair. Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, is considered the most influential woman in the media. With her, Penelope Cruz, Michaela Cole, Roger Federer, and Dua Lipa will direct this year’s gala.
