With a history of dealing in the automobile sector for almost a century, the bigwig MG is fervently supporting the EV drive by introducing new electric variants constantly. It has now announced the launch of another electric vehicle variant in Australia- the MG4, Excite 51 kWh.
The new MG vehicle is the first EV in Australia that falls under $40,000. Priced at $38,990 plus on road charges, the new entry-level hatchback MG4 Excite 51, has become the most ‘affordable’ EV in Australia as of now.
The company has announced that it will start delivering the vehicles in the coming month of August.
The sales of Electric vehicles have been constantly on the rise for the past few months in the country. It now amounts to 7% in the new car market. While the interest in Electric vehicles is on the rise in the country, so is the difficulty to sustain a good lifestyle.
Presently, there are very few electric models available in the country that are below $50,000 and presumably none that are under $40,000. Thus, Excite 51 kWh comes as a delight to Australian EV enthusiasts that are looking for a more affordable vehicle.
Excite 51 kWh Specs
The new MG4 variant comes with its own set of features that are quite attractive for an electric vehicle-
- The vehicle is able to cover a range of 350 km on a single charge according to the ‘Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure’.
- It also supports a 125 kW motor.
- The car is able to go from 0-100 km/h in just 7.7 seconds.
- The car will run with the support of 17-inch alloy wheels which will come with two-tone aero covers.

Subsidies for the new Electric MG4 51 kWh
The MG4 variant falls under the line of $ 40,000 but does not include any on the road costs like taxes, mandatory insurances, state registration charges etc.
But there are still various subsidies that customers can avail to make their vehicle more affordable. These subsidies have to be checked state wise as few of the states like Victoria have stopped their EV subsidies.
Other MG electric Variants
Apart from Excite 51 kWh, MG has also introduced other variants that are higher on the price side. If customers are looking for better features or range, they can check out these models.
Coming out with better features Excite 64 kWh, priced at $ 44,990 plus on-road charges is able to cover 450 km on a single charge while having a 150 kW motor.
Other models include Essence 64 kWh and Essence 77 kWh which are capable of covering 435 km and 530 km each respectively on a single charge and are priced at $ 47,990 and $ 55,990.
