The present state can suffice the needs of the people of Mumbai for the next upcoming 51 days.
But to look at the future and not face a water cut in the coming year it is important to have a look at the lakes. Those need to have 14.47 lakh million liters.
In the last three days, rain was there in the smaller lakes such as Tulsi and Vihar which are located in Mumbai. And lakes like Bhatsa, and Modak Sagar have witnessed comparatively fewer rains in the outskirts of Mumbai.
Though the civic officials are hopeful that lakes will be filled up in the coming days. Tulsi lake is the first lake that is filled up in most years compared to the other seven lakes. The Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai, has predicted generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms for the city in the next 24 hours. The weather agency said that Mumbai and its suburbs may receive light rainfall for the next 24 hours. And there is a possibility of occasional intense spells.
But however, this year the lake meets 1% of the city’s daily Mumbai water requirement.
