Soon after the spectacular firing outside the Prayagraj hospital, the suspects Lavlesh Tiwari of Banda, Mohit alias Sunny of Hamirpur, and Arun Maurya of Kasganj were apprehended when police officers were accompanying the brothers for a checkup on Saturday night.

In order to supervise the first SIT, a second SIT has been established.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, took notice of the occurrence quickly and commanded that a judicial panel be established to investigate it. The district court sentenced all three shooters—Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh, and Lovelesh Tiwari—to 14 days in judicial detention on Sunday for the murders of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. Atiq Ahmed, a former criminal turned politician, and his brother Ashraf had their funeral services on Sunday in a family gravesite in Prayagraj’s Kasari Masari neighborhood.Â
A Panel of Retired Judges to Probe Atiq’s Death
A three-person judicial committee has been established by the government of Uttar Pradesh to look into the death of Atiq Ahmad. Arvind Kumar Tripathi, a retired judge from the Allahabad High Court, will serve as the panel’s chairman. Retired judges BK Soni and Subesh Kumar Singh, an ex-DGP, will also be on the panel.

Questions are being raised by the police regarding the murder of Atiq and Ashraf Ahmed in police custody in Prayagraj that due to the lapse of the police, the miscreants succeeded in killing both of them. Even when the assailants and Atiq were both in the presence of 20 police officers on Saturday night, neither could be saved. About 20 bullets were fired by the assailants, but not a single one was fired by the police. Also, why wasn’t Atiq Ahmed’s automobile driven into the hospital, but left at the gate outside?
