The history Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi launch 44th Chess Olympiad on June 19th that an Olympic -style torch relay will be established.
The torch relay for the 44th Chess Olympiad which is going to be held from July 28th – 10th August in India, will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 19th at New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Stadium. The event will happen at 5:00 pm IST. Modi will also address the turnout at the event.
This is the first time in the history of the Chess Olympiad that an Olympic -style torch relay will be established. 44th Olympiad on June 19th
According to the statement on Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi official website, the torch will be handed over by FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich to PM Modi, who will then pass it over to Chess Grandmaster Vishwanathan Anand.
Starting from Delhi, the historic Olympiad Torch Relay will travel across the country before reaching Mahabalipuram on July 27th.

The International Chess Federation (FIDE) launched an Olympic-style Torch Relay tradition for its Olympiad which started this year and India has been named as the starting point where the sport emerged.
