Today, October 31st, National Unity Day has started, celebrated all over the country. The day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This year is the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The National Unity Day, i.e., Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, was first celebrated in 2014 by the Government of India. The government decided to celebrate October 31st as National Unity Day every year on the birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who had a major role in the political integration of India. The day was introduced as an opportunity to reaffirm the inherent strength and resilience of the nation.
Every citizen, all the government offices, schools, colleges, ministries and departments are bound to celebrate this program through various activities. The objective behind all these celebrations is to motivate all the citizens of the country to maintain unity and integrity in the country and to recognize the idea of unity in diversity.
On this day, a pledge is read out in all the government offices and other platforms. There are many activities, such as a marathon with the tagline “Run for unity” that are planned to celebrate this day. Today there are 75000 “Run for Unity” marathons arranged across the country.
